Global travel-tech company OYO has appointed Sonal Sinha as the Chief Executive Officer of G6 Hospitality, the American motel company it recently acquired from Blackstone Real Estate.
The acquisition, finalized in December last year, brings 1,500 franchised hotels across the US and Canada under OYO’s portfolio, marking a significant expansion of its North American footprint. The combined entity is projected to generate a Gross Booking Value of approximately $3 billion, with G6 Hospitality—operator of the well-known Motel 6 and Studio 6 brands—contributing $1.7 billion. The integration of G6’s portfolio with OYO’s existing operations is expected to drive synergies and accelerate growth in international markets.
Sinha, who joined OYO in 2015, has played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s financial strategies across various business functions. In his previous role as Chief Financial Officer of international Business, he focused on improving business margins and implementing crucial financial control measures, including tax, accounting, and reconciliation frameworks.
In his new role, Sinha will continue reporting to Gautam Swaroop, CEO – International, OYO. His leadership appointment aligns with OYO’s strategy to reinforce its global operations and enhance its presence in key international markets.
“Sonal has been instrumental in driving OYO’s international business to new heights,” said OYO Founder & Group CEO Ritesh Agarwal. “His deep understanding of our operations and proven track record of enhancing business performance make him the ideal leader to spearhead G6 Hospitality while maintaining the strong momentum of our global business.”
As OYO intensifies its focus on delivering superior guest experiences and equipping hotel owners with advanced technological tools, Sinha’s leadership is expected to drive innovation and operational excellence. The integration of OYO’s tech-driven approach with G6’s established market position aims to create a compelling hospitality experience for both hotel partners and travellers.
