Amagi Strengthens OTT Capabilities with Acquisition of Argoid AI

Date:

Amagi, a leading cloud media SaaS technology firm, has announced the acquisition of Argoid AI, an artificial intelligence company specializing in recommendation engines and programming automation for over-the-top (OTT) platforms. This strategic move underscores Amagi’s commitment to enhancing its media tech solutions and staying ahead in the fast-evolving streaming industry.

Enhanced Functionality for Amagi’s Product Suite

By integrating Argoid AI’s advanced algorithms, Amagi plans to bolster its flagship offerings, including Amagi NOW and CLOUDPORT. These enhancements will empower media companies with advanced tools for faster, smarter, and more personalized content scheduling at scale, addressing a critical need in today’s OTT-driven market.

The acquisition also brings Argoid’s founders—Gokul Muralidharan, Soundararajan Velu, and Chackaravarthy E—into the Amagi fold, marking the start of a promising collaboration to refine content recommendations and real-time programming technologies.

Argoid AI’s Impact on Viewer Engagement

Argoid AI’s innovative solutions have already demonstrated a significant impact on viewer engagement and channel operations in the streaming media space. By enhancing content recommendations and enabling real-time programming decisions, the company has helped media firms optimize performance and captivate audiences more effectively.

Amagi’s Remarkable Growth Journey

Amagi’s acquisition of Argoid AI is another milestone in its impressive growth trajectory. Originally focused on advertising solutions for local TV channels, Amagi pivoted in 2018 to become a SaaS-based monetization platform for TV networks and content owners.

The company achieved unicorn status in March 2022 after raising $95 million in funding led by Accel. Later in November, it secured an additional $110 million. Reports suggest Amagi is now exploring a $250 million funding round to further fuel its expansion.

Financial Growth

Amagi has shown robust financial performance, with its revenue from operations surging to ₹879.15 crore in the last fiscal year, up from ₹680 crore in FY23, according to data intelligence platform TheKredible.

Future Prospects

With the integration of Argoid AI, Amagi is well-positioned to revolutionize how media companies leverage technology for audience engagement and operational efficiency. This acquisition not only enhances Amagi’s product capabilities but also solidifies its reputation as a pioneer in the cloud media SaaS landscape.
