Yatrikart Secures Strategic Investment from MMG Group, Eyes Nationwide Expansion

Transit retail chain Yatrikart has secured a strategic investment as part of its Series A funding round from MMG Group, the Indian partner of global giants McDonald’s and Coca-Cola. The investment, which grants MMG Group a stake in Yatrikart, values the company at Rs 100 crore.

Before this funding, Yatrikart had raised $2.8 million from existing investors, including Artha Venture Fund, Fox Software Ventures, She Capital, and Shuru Up.

The fresh capital will be utilized to expand its franchise network using the FOCO (Franchise-Owned, Company-Operated) and FOFO (Franchise-Owned, Franchise-Operated) models, enhance technological infrastructure, and optimize supply chains through its ‘Quick Commerce for Transit’ app, the company stated in a press release.

Founded in 2021 by Gaurav Rana and Shivangee Sharma, Yatrikart is a tech-enabled transit retail chain that aims to revolutionize “retailing on the go.” By partnering with hawkers and small retailers at transit stations, the company fosters micro-entrepreneurship while providing travelers with a seamless shopping experience. Yatrikart envisions itself as the “WH-Smith for Bharat,” catering to road and rail travelers with a diverse range of products.

The Indore-based company offers a variety of travel essentials, including snacks, beverages, personal care items, home care products, pet care essentials, confectionery, tobacco, hygiene products, ready-to-eat foods, over-the-counter medicines, micro ATMs, and charging stations.

With a mission to establish over 5,000 smart kiosks and stores across metro hubs, railway stations, highways, and airports, Yatrikart is rapidly expanding its technology-driven retail ecosystem. The company currently faces no direct competition but operates in a market dominated by unorganized kiosks and street vendors.

By leveraging strategic partnerships and technology, Yatrikart is set to redefine transit retail in India, offering convenience and accessibility to travelers nationwide.
