Hyperlocal news platform Way2News has successfully raised $14 million in its Series B funding round, led by WestBridge Capital. This round also saw participation from prominent venture capitalist Sashi Reddi.

The latest infusion of capital will be directed towards scaling operations, advancing technology, and broadening Way2News’ footprint in the South Indian market, according to a press release from the company.

Founded in 2015 and headquartered in Bengaluru, Way2News previously secured $16.75 million in a Series A round in June 2022. The platform has made significant strides since its inception, boasting 6.5 million daily active users, 13 million monthly active users, and over 50 million downloads across app stores.

Way2News delivers concise, relevant, and trustworthy news stories in multiple regional languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Bengali, and Gujarati. The service spans from district-level updates to news from villages and mandals, sourced from reliable local providers.

In the competitive landscape of news aggregation, Way2News contends with other notable players such as InShorts, Dailyhunt, Inshorts’ Public app, and Feedly.
