Skild AI, a pioneering artificial intelligence robotics firm focused on developing a scalable foundational paradigm for robots, has successfully closed a Series A funding round, raising $300 million. This substantial investment marks a significant milestone for the company, poised to revolutionize the robotics industry with its innovative approach.

The funds raised will fuel Skild AI’s ambitious plans to expand its business model and enhance training datasets crucial for the deployment of its cutting-edge technology. A major portion of the capital will also be allocated towards recruiting top-tier professionals across artificial intelligence, robotics, engineering, operations, and security domains.

Leading the charge in this funding round are Lightspeed Venture Partners, Coatue, and SoftBank Group, alongside notable participation from Jeff Bezos (via Bezos Expeditions), Felicis Ventures, Sequoia, Menlo Ventures, General Catalyst, CRV, Amazon, SV Angel, and Carnegie Mellon University.

Skild AI stands out in the robotics landscape by leveraging real-world data and experiences to develop its artificial intelligence models. Unlike traditional robotics focused on specific tasks, Skild AI’s approach centers on creating a versatile, all-purpose cognitive system capable of empowering various robots across manipulation, locomotion, and navigation domains.

The company’s vision extends beyond mere task automation. Skild AI aims to democratize robotics by enhancing the agility, dexterity, and safety of robots for widespread human interaction and use. By integrating affordability and adaptability into its AI model, Skild AI seeks to revolutionize industries, addressing labour shortages and expanding the capabilities of automated systems.

Abhinav Gupta, President and Co-Founder of Skild AI, articulated the company’s mission: “With the development of general-purpose robots capable of performing automated tasks across any environment and embodiment, we aim to redefine the potential of robotics, making them accessible and indispensable in various sectors.”

Skild AI’s pursuit of artificial general intelligence (AGI) rooted in physical environments challenges conventional notions, setting a new benchmark for the future of robotic capabilities. This funding round not only underscores investor confidence in Skild AI’s transformative vision but also sets the stage for the company’s continued innovation and leadership in the AI robotics space.
