Growth capital firm Playbook Partners has successfully marked the first close of its new growth capital fund, raising over $130 million from a global investor base spanning Europe, the US, the Middle East, and India. The fund, which has a green shoe option, could reach up to $250 million in total size.
Playbook Partners, founded by Vikas Choudhury, focuses on supporting growth-stage, tech-enabled businesses operating in large, addressable markets. The firm is known for backing companies with positive unit economics and a clear path to sustainable market leadership. Combining capital with strategic capabilities, Playbook uses a data-driven approach to help its portfolio companies scale.
Choudhury’s track record includes investments in 10 unicorns, IPOs, and successful exits, with notable companies such as inMobi, Myntra, Fractal, Nazara, PolicyBazaar, and Rapido among his portfolio.
The senior investment team at Playbook includes Dushyant Singh and Sumit Jain. At the same time, the firm’s operating partners consist of prominent business leaders such as Manish Choksi (Asian Paints), Aakash Chaudhry (Aakash Education), and Milan Sheth (formerly of Automation Anywhere). These partners are involved either through their family offices or personally.
Playbook’s investment strategy is centred around digital transformation themes, particularly in distribution, disruption, and consumption innovation within the aspirational Indian market.
