Wedding services startup Meragi has successfully raised $9.1 million in a new funding round led by Accel, with significant participation from existing investors Peak XV Partners and Venture Highway. This investment marks a pivotal moment for Meragi as it seeks to broaden its footprint and diversify its service offerings.
Meragi, part of the eighth cohort of Peak XV’s accelerator program Surge, plans to utilize the funds to expand into new cities, establish partner venues and experience centres, and enter new categories such as venues and catering, according to a press release from the company.
Co-founded in 2021 by Mukund Mohan Raj, Abhinav Chandran, and Lakshminarayan B, Meragi provides a comprehensive suite of modern wedding services. These include decoration, photography, videography, makeup, hairstyling, mehendi, catering, venues, entertainment, and invitations. The platform enables users to discover, design, and purchase these services for various lifestyle events, offering a seamless planning experience.
Meragi also offers destination wedding packages in popular locations such as Goa, Coorg, Chikkamagaluru, Mysuru, and Bengaluru. The Bengaluru-based company claims to have delivered 3,000 events and reported a gross merchandise value (GMV) of Rs 48 crore last year. Meragi aims to double this figure by the end of FY25.
With an expanding customer base typically aged 25 to 35, Meragi is set to extend its services to Gurugram and Jaipur this year. The startup joins a competitive landscape featuring notable players like Weddingz.in, Wedding Cloud, Shaadilogy, and Shaadi Baraati Event Management.
The recent funding will accelerate Meragi’s growth trajectory, enabling it to enhance its offerings and cater to a broader audience, reinforcing its position as a key player in the wedding services market.
