Hyderabad-based dronetech startup Marut Dronetech has successfully secured $6.2 million in its Series A funding round, led by Lok Capital. This strategic investment will fuel Marut’s ambitious plans to enhance its custom agricultural drone offerings, broaden its partner networks, and establish new service centers in tier II and III cities, bolstering its reach in rural India. Additionally, Marut aims to set up operational hubs that provide “Drone-as-a-Service” in collaboration with strategic partners.

Founded in 2019 by Prem Kumar Vislawath, Suraj Peddi, and Sai Kumar Chinthala, Marut Drones has made significant strides in the drone technology space with a strong focus on agriculture. The company is also venturing into disaster management and surveillance applications, highlighting its versatile approach to dronetech solutions.

Marut boasts a workforce of over 200 members and a robust operational fleet consisting of 750 drones and more than 1,000 trained pilots deployed across 14 states in India. The startup’s plans include ramping up recruitment across various departments, nurturing drone entrepreneurship, and launching 17 new drone academies to build a pipeline of skilled drone operators. This expansion supports Marut’s commitment to fostering innovation and advancing research and development in the drone sector.

In a move underscoring its technological edge, Marut Drones recently introduced the AG365H, a DGCA Type Certified medium-category agricultural drone. The AG365H is designed for diverse applications such as fish feeding, broadcasting fertilizer granules, and pesticide spraying. It also serves as a training tool for operators, aligning with the company’s broader goal of empowering rural areas with advanced agri-solutions and drone expertise.

This funding round marks a significant milestone for Marut Drones as it scales its operations and reinforces its leadership in India’s growing drone ecosystem.
