Gaming startup LightFury Games has secured $8.5 million in its Seed funding round, with Blume Ventures leading the investment.
The round also saw significant participation from Japanese mobile entertainment firm Mixi, micro-venture capital firm Gemba Capital, and notable angel investors, including Kunal Shah and Gaurav Munjal.
Led by former Unacademy and Tencent Games executive Karan Shroff, Tina Balachandran, and gaming industry veteran Anurag Banerjee, LightFury Games aims to develop AAA titles. It will initially focus on mobile games before expanding to other platforms, such as consoles. AAA games are known for their high development and marketing budgets.
To bolster its team, the startup has onboarded former Improbable and Electronic Arts executive Chong-U Lim as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and long-time Improbable executive Daniel Hall as Senior Director of Engineering.
Shroff, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of LightFury Games, brings extensive experience to Unacademy and Xiaomi India, where he served in key roles, including brand marketing.
The funds raised will be allocated to game development, establishing game studios in India and the UK, and hiring top talent to drive innovation and creativity within the company.
