Raincheck Earth Co., the parent company of the premium alcoholic beverage brand Cherrapunji Craft Gin, has successfully raised $1.2 million in a pre-Series A funding round from Japanese investors. The investment also saw participation from AngelList India Syndicate, which doubled down on its previous commitments to the company. This latest funding follows the startup’s seed round in May 2023.
The newly acquired funds will be strategically used to accelerate both domestic and global expansion efforts, with a particular focus on increasing distribution and enhancing brand visibility in key markets.
A Gin Born from the Rainiest Place on Earth
Founded by Mayukh Hazarika, Cherrapunji Eastern Craft Gin was launched in 2023 from Cherrapunji, Meghalaya—an area renowned for its record-breaking annual rainfall. The brand distinguishes itself by utilizing purified rainwater along with indigenous North East Indian botanicals, creating a truly unique gin that embodies the essence of the region.
Sustainability and Global Recognition
As part of its commitment to sustainability, the company has designed its bottles using military-grade stainless steel, aiming to reduce its carbon footprint and encourage reuse. This innovative approach was recognized when Cherrapunji Gin won ‘Gin Bottle of the Year 2024’ by The Gin Guide readers and followers.
Since its inception, Cherrapunji Craft Gin has rapidly gained global acclaim, securing 13 prestigious international awards. With the latest funding, the company is set to expand its footprint in the global spirits market, further establishing itself as a leader in sustainable, high-quality craft gin.
