Biofortified food brand Better Nutrition has successfully raised Rs 10 crore in a seed funding round, backed by family offices, high-net-worth individuals (HNIs), and prominent angel investors. Among the key investors in this round are Namita Thapar, Shantanu Deshpande, PV Sindhu, Aclr8.vc, Apurva Chamaria, Karan Jindal, and Akshay Ghulati. Notably, existing investors reaffirmed their commitment, contributing nearly 30% of the total funding.
Greenday, the parent company of Better Nutrition, had previously secured Rs 3.1 crore in 2022 in a funding round led by IIM Ahmedabad Ventures.
With the fresh capital infusion, Better Nutrition plans to expand its portfolio of biofortified food products, strengthen its distribution network across quick commerce, offline retail, and direct-to-consumer (D2C) channels, and enhance its farmer training programs and sustainable sourcing initiatives. Additionally, the company aims to invest further in research and development (R&D) to drive innovation in the biofortified food segment.
Founded in 2023 by Prateek Rastogi and Aishwarya Bhatnagar, Better Nutrition is dedicated to tackling India’s nutritional challenges through biofortified grains enriched with essential nutrients such as zinc, iron, protein, and calcium. The Lucknow-based company collaborates with over 15,000 farmers, fostering a network of rural micro-entrepreneurs to make nutrient-rich grains accessible to Indian households. Its mission is to enhance energy, immunity, and overall health without requiring significant dietary changes.
Better Nutrition is now poised to expand its product range to include pulses, oilseeds, and other foundational crops. The brand’s upcoming line of products will be derived from its proprietary crops, ensuring nutrient density, a low glycemic index (GI), and pesticide-free integrity.
The company has reported a 3X growth in both revenue and valuation. Its appearance on Shark Tank India further boosted its traction, leading to a 5X surge in revenue and a 10X increase in website traffic. To date, Better Nutrition has fulfilled over 25,000 orders and expanded its presence on major quick commerce platforms, including Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, and BigBasket.
PV Sindhu, one of the investors in Better Nutrition, is also known for endorsing brands such as Spinny, Bank of Baroda, Asian Paints, and Bridgestone India. Her involvement underscores the growing interest in the biofortified food sector and the potential for impact-driven growth in the industry.
