Spacetech startup Astrogate Labs has raised $1.3 million in a pre-Series funding round led by Piper Serica Angel Fund. The fresh capital will be used to enhance its laser communication terminals for space applications, expand to terrestrial and airborne use cases, scale operations, and strengthen ties with space agencies and defense organizations.
Founded by Nitish Singh, Yogeshwaran J, and Subhajit Chakraborty, Astrogate Labs is focused on improving data downlink capabilities for small satellite constellations. With over 25,000 small satellites expected to be in orbit by 2030, traditional radio frequency (RF) systems face severe bandwidth limitations and spectrum congestion. Astrogate’s laser communication technology aims to provide a high-speed, scalable alternative, offering data transmission rates of up to 10 Gbps with greater security and efficiency.
Astrogate Labs has received notable industry recognition, including the DRDO Dare to Dream 4.0 award and a spot in the Seraphim Space Accelerator APAC Program in 2023. The Bengaluru-based startup has also secured early backing from Speciale Invest, SatSure, and Anicut Capital, which have supported the development of its pioneering space communication solutions.
As the global demand for high-speed satellite data transmission grows, Astrogate Labs is positioning itself at the forefront of next-generation laser communication technology, with applications spanning commercial space missions, defense communications, and satellite-based internet infrastructure.
