Amwoodo, a leading bamboo products manufacturer, has announced securing $1 million in funding from Rainmatter, a venture fund backed by Zerodha.
The investment infusion is earmarked for key initiatives, including upgrading machinery and equipment, upskilling artisans, and expanding the company’s operations.
Established in 2019, Amwoodo specializes in crafting various bamboo items ranging from combs and toothbrushes to razors, slippers, compostable sanitary bags, and towels. The company operates a unique supply chain, directly sourcing bamboo from around 400 farmers in the northeast region of India. It collaborates with approximately 380 artisans, with the final refinement of products to meet export standards in its factories in Howrah, Kolkata.
Amwoodo operates in the business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) sectors. Its prominent clients include renowned hospitality chains such as Taj Hotels and The Leela and popular direct-to-consumer brands like Himalaya, Man Company, Nat Habit, and Kimirica.
In the last financial year, the Kolkata-based firm reported sales worth Rs 21.72 crore. With the newly secured funding and strategic plans, Amwoodo aims to achieve approximately Rs 60 crore sales in the ongoing financial year.
This investment strengthens Amwoodo’s position in the market and underscores the growing interest in sustainable and eco-friendly products. With Rainmatter’s backing, the company is well-positioned to further its mission of promoting bamboo-based solutions while driving positive social and environmental impact.
