The founding story of Vymanik Aerospace is a testament to the passion, dedication, and collaborative spirit of Akhand Pratap Singh, who embarked on a remarkable journey during his BTech in Aeronautical Engineering from BBDNITM, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University in Lucknow.
In 2017, while deeply involved in research projects on Hot Air Balloons, Hovercrafts, and Drones, Akhand’s enthusiasm for aerospace technology and astronomical events flourished through his association with the Indira Gandhi Planetarium and membership in the Uttar Pradesh Amateur Astronomers Club. During this time, he honed his skills and expanded his network through internships at RDSO and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited Transport Aircraft Division in Kanpur.
The turning point came when Akhand met David Devassy, a seasoned professional with experience setting up companies and a background in the aerospace industry. Fueled by shared ambitions and driven by their collective experiences, they founded Vymanik Aerospace in 2017. Initially, the focus was on creating drones for colleges and student groups, catering to the growing demand for aerial technology in various educational projects.
As Akhand’s interest in aerospace technology grew, so did the scope of Vymanik Aerospace. The company transitioned from producing drones for educational institutions to conducting workshops in engineering colleges, imparting drone and hovercraft manufacturing skills. Seeking new opportunities, the team relocated to Delhi, recognizing the nascent stage of the drone industry and its growth potential.
In pursuit of enhancing business operations, Akhand joined AIC BIMTECH in Greater Noida, where he acquired essential skills for entrepreneurship. He actively participated in seminars and events and expanded his knowledge base and network. The journey took a significant leap when Vymanik Aerospace became part of India’s NIDHI EIR scheme of the DST Govt, focusing on developing 2D and 3D mapping through drones.
Subsequently, under the NIDHI PRAYAS program of NSTEDB DST GoI through TBIKIET Ghaziabad, Vymanik Aerospace evolved its capabilities to develop advanced drones for mapping purposes. Despite facing challenges, including partner issues and David’s move to another company, Akhand remained resilient. The company was initially closed, and in 2020, Vymanik Aerospace Technologies Pvt Ltd was registered with Aparna Singh joining as co-founder.
The renewed Vymanik Aerospace began providing Aerial Surv.eillance, Mapping, and Inspection services using their advanced drone technology. The company quickly gained recognition, earning opportunities to represent India in international forums and being part of official delegations from the Governments of Uttar Pradesh and India.
