Dhruv Taneja (DT): My journey began with ventures like Mpeza, driven by a passion for logistics efficiency. The idea for MatchLog stemmed from the inefficiencies in container logistics, particularly the issue of empty runs which contribute to carbon emissions. I saw a significant opportunity to address these inefficiencies and create a more sustainable solution.

RC: How does MatchLog optimize container logistics and reduce empty runs?

DT: MatchLog leverages real-time data and a proprietary algorithm to match empty containers with export demand, minimizing empty runs. This not only optimizes logistics but also significantly reduces carbon emissions. Our technology ensures that containers are utilized more efficiently, benefiting both the environment and the industry.

RC: What role does technology play in MatchLog’s operations, especially with solutions like ExtenderMisty and your Transport Management System (TMS)?

DT: Our in-house developed TMS streamlines trucking operations for global shipping lines, providing visibility and efficiency. ExtenderMisty enhances our matchback capabilities by integrating ecosystem visibility for better logistics management. Technology is at the core of our operations, enabling us to offer innovative and efficient solutions.

RC: What future innovations or solutions can we expect from MatchLog?

DT: Our immediate focus is expanding platform usage across India and entering Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Future innovations will build on our tech foundation, potentially integrating more AI-driven optimizations. We are constantly looking for ways to enhance our platform and offer even more value to our users.

RC: How has MatchLog’s financial growth evolved since its inception?

DT: Starting from 1.6 crores in revenue initially, we’ve grown to around 32 crores, aiming for profitability by March 2025. Our transition to a platform-based revenue model has been pivotal in this growth. We’ve seen significant financial progress and expect continued growth as we expand our reach and services.

RC: What sets MatchLog apart from other logistics and supply chain optimization companies?

DT: In India, MatchLog is pioneering in optimizing container logistics with our proprietary technology and industry-specific focus, creating a significant competitive advantage. Our ability to effectively reduce empty runs and our commitment to sustainability are key differentiators.

RC: What were the initial challenges MatchLog faced, and how did you overcome them?

DT: Early challenges included change management within the industry and convincing stakeholders of the benefits of our approach. Persistence and demonstrating tangible results were key to overcoming these hurdles. By proving the value of our solutions, we were able to build trust and gain acceptance.

RC: Could you elaborate on MatchLog’s approach to customer experience and satisfaction with your logistics solutions?

RC: What is MatchLog’s vision for the future, and where do you see the company in the next five to ten years?

DT: Our vision is to become the leading global triangulation platform, reducing carbon emissions and optimizing logistics on a larger scale. We aim to expand our operations globally and continue innovating to set new standards in sustainable logistics and supply chain optimization.
