Date:

In an illuminating conversation between Raamesh Chandra, our editor, and Robin Chopra, the visionary founder of Detoxie, the journey and ethos of this groundbreaking skincare brand come to light. Robin shares the story of resilience, innovation, and determination that led to the inception of Detoxie amidst adversity, culminating in a brand dedicated to addressing niche skincare concerns with efficacy and integrity.

Robin Chopra’s path from a corporate career to the founding of Detoxie encapsulates a tale of perseverance and passion. After facing initial setbacks and the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Robin embarked on a journey of reinvention, conducting extensive research during the lockdown to birth Detoxie as India’s first anti-stress and anti-pollution skincare brand. Detoxie’s approach is characterized by its active-led formulations, combining traditional wisdom with modern science to ensure both efficacy and safety. Through rigorous dermatological testing and a commitment to sustainability, Detoxie has garnered customer praise and loyalty, positioning itself as a trailblazer in the skincare industry. Looking ahead, Detoxie’s vision encompasses further innovation, including introducing mood-uplifting skincare products and expanding into international markets while staying true to its core values of quality, efficacy, and sustainability.

Q. Can you give us a little brief about yourself and your background? Also, could you talk about how Detoxie came about?

A: I started my career in the corporate world after completing my engineering and MBA. Despite a successful stint, my passion for skincare led me to launch a skincare brand. However, our initial attempt failed, pushing us to the brink of bankruptcy by 2019. The pandemic further exacerbated our challenges. Yet, amidst adversity, the idea for Detoxie was conceived during the lockdown, born out of thorough research and the determination to address a niche problem. Detoxie emerged as India’s first anti-stress and anti-pollution skincare company through extensive studies and feedback.

Q. How does Detoxie ensure the effectiveness and safety of skincare products, particularly in combating the effects of pollution on the skin?

A: Detoxie is an active-led skincare brand focusing on tailored formulations to fulfil specific claims. For instance, our hard water shampoo targets the widespread issue of water pollution, effectively cleansing while incorporating ingredients like Redensyl to combat hair fall. All our products undergo rigorous dermatological testing to ensure safety and efficacy, adhering to strict standards and excluding harsh chemicals.

Q. How does Detoxie curate the ingredients being used in products? Are they Ayurvedic, or are they lab-tested formulations?

A: Our approach involves a blend of traditional wisdom and modern research. While some products, like our face oil, are Ayurvedic, others rely on scientifically validated formulations. Each ingredient is meticulously chosen based on its intended purpose: to soothe, nourish, or protect the skin.

Q. How does Detoxie reach out to its target audience, given that it supplies a specific niche of skincare products?

A: Our marketing strategy revolves around organic growth and word-of-mouth promotion. While maintaining a presence on various online platforms, we focus on delivering quality products that resonate with our customers. By operating frugally and prioritizing customer satisfaction, we’ve cultivated a loyal following that drives our success.

Q. Do you plan on opening dedicated stores across different cities?

A: We operate exclusively online, with no immediate plans for brick-and-mortar stores. Our niche market requires a specialized approach, and expanding offline would be costly and challenging. However, we remain open to diversification in the future, potentially venturing into related sectors under the Detoxie umbrella.

Q. Can you share any success stories or testimonials from customers who have experienced the benefits of using Detoxie products?

A: We’ve received numerous testimonials from satisfied customers, highlighting the transformative effects of our products. Detoxie has garnered praise for its tangible results, from reducing hair fall to improving skin texture. These testimonials serve as a testament to our commitment to quality and efficacy.

Q. How does Detoxie ensure sustainability through the packaging of its products?

A: While plastic is often unavoidable in skincare packaging, we strive to minimize our environmental impact. We utilize glass packaging and actively engage in plastic recycling initiatives where feasible. We aim to maintain a positive balance, ensuring we contribute more to plastic recycling than we consume.

Q. Are you into exports or planning to ship to other countries?

A: We’ve received inquiries from international markets and are considering expanding our reach beyond India. With growing awareness and demand for our products, we will soon see potential export opportunities.

Q. What is Detoxie’s future vision?

A: We’re set to introduce innovative mood-uplifting skincare products, a pioneering venture in the Indian market. Additionally, we aim to diversify into pocket-friendly wellness solutions catering to urban lifestyles. Our vision is to continue pushing boundaries, delivering holistic skincare solutions and prioritising efficacy and sustainability.

Detoxie’s journey reflects a blend of resilience, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to making a meaningful difference in the skincare industry. Detoxie stands as a testament to the transformative power of passion and purpose as they continue to carve their path.
