NuVentures Launches $75 Million Fund to Back Indian-Linked Startups

NuVentures, the venture capital firm founded by seasoned investor Venk Krishnan in 2015, has announced a new $75 million fund aimed at supporting startups with strong ties to India. Headquartered in the US, the firm is looking to bolster early-stage ventures through strategic funding and mentorship.

Krishnan has been an active player in India’s startup ecosystem since 2002, beginning with his investment in NetKraft. Over the years, he has backed more than 47 companies, including industry leaders such as Mu Sigma, BigBasket, Acko, HomeLane, Third Wave Coffee, Geist Beer, Lucidity, and Foxtale. His extensive experience has positioned him as a key influencer in India’s growing startup landscape.

Initially, Krishnan operated primarily as an angel investor, selecting startups based on the passion and vision of their founders. With the evolution of NuVentures, the firm has transitioned into a structured venture capital entity that offers startups more than just capital—it provides strategic guidance and operational support to help businesses scale.

The newly launched $75 million fund is structured to invest in four to five startups per year, with individual investments ranging between $250,000 and $750,000. The fund has already secured commitments from high-net-worth individuals (HNIs) and a US-based Fund of Funds, ensuring a strong financial foundation for future investments.

NuVentures has already made investments in four startups, including one led by Carnegie Mellon University alumni. With this initiative, Krishnan aims to empower promising entrepreneurs and accelerate their journey toward building successful, scalable businesses.

By focusing on startups with strong India connections, NuVentures is fostering innovation and cross-border collaboration. The firm’s new fund underscores its commitment to nurturing the next generation of entrepreneurs and reinforcing India’s presence in the global startup ecosystem.
