Interview with Mr Lokesh Daga, Co-founder of Nasher Miles: Pioneering the Future of Travel and Fashion

Date:

First, please share your background and the journey that led you to co-found Nasher Miles.

Mr. Lokesh Daga: Certainly, and thank you for having me. My journey into the world of entrepreneurship was not a direct one. I pursued engineering and went on to complete an MBA. Initially, I gained invaluable experience during my five-year tenure at Philips Electronics India Limited, where I had the privilege of leading the online sales division for Philips Consumer Lifestyle. This experience gave me a deep insight into the e-commerce landscape.

In 2014, you, your wife, and your elder brother started National Miles as online aggregators before transitioning into having your private label. What drove this transition?

Mr. Lokesh Daga: Of course. Realizing the immense potential within the online space was at the heart of our transition. We were confident in our education and qualifications, which gave us the belief that we could succeed in this dynamic environment. However, our true motivation came from creating something uniquely our own, a private label that could make a significant impact.

2017 National Miles was born, and you launched premium luggage bags. What inspired this product line, and what do you hope to achieve?

Mr Lokesh Daga: The inspiration for our premium luggage bags stemmed from the recognition of a gap in the market. We saw an opportunity to inject life and fashion into the luggage category, which, traditionally, had been seen as more functional than stylish. Our goal is to transform luggage into a fashion statement, providing travellers with the functionality they need and the aesthetics they desire.

How does Nasher Miles plan to shape the future of travel and fashion? Can you share some insights into your vision and innovation strategy?

Mr Lokesh Daga: Our vision at Nasher Miles is to redefine the travel experience by merging practicality with style. We aim to offer a range of travel essentials that are efficient and tasteful. Our innovation strategy revolves around continuous product improvement, staying ahead of design trends, and harnessing the latest technology to create travel solutions that cater to modern travellers’ needs.

What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs in the Indian startup ecosystem, especially those looking to venture into the e-commerce and fashion sectors?

Mr. Lokesh Daga: I emphasize the importance of deep market research and a clear understanding of your target audience. Customers’ preferences constantly evolve in the e-commerce and fashion sectors, so staying adaptable and responsive is crucial. Surround yourself with a dedicated and skilled team, and most importantly, always keep sight of your vision.

Thank you, Mr. Daga, for sharing your insights and the inspiring journey of Nasher Miles with us. We wish you and your team continued success in making travel easy, efficient, and tasteful.
